Our Story
Stouffville Music Room began with a simple childhood spark. Moreen’s musical journey started not with piano, but with a dream to play the bagpipes after watching a marching band in a Santa Claus parade. Her mom, wisely steering her toward something more manageable, encouraged her to start with piano first. That gentle nudge led Moreen to fall deeply in love with the piano and the magic of making music.
As the years passed, Moreen’s passion grew. While attending university, she began teaching piano lessons out of her parents’ house. What started as a handful of students quickly blossomed into more than she could handle alone. Recognizing a shared passion for music within the community, she reached out to other local music teachers to partner together. This collaboration gave birth to Stouffville Music Room, officially launching in January 2020.
Though not an ideal time to start a business, with the world soon gripped by the COVID-19 pandemic, Stouffville Music Room rapidly adapted. Lessons moved online, and through this pivot, music found its way into hundreds of homes during challenging times. Through resilience and dedication, Stouffville Music Room became a beacon for music education in the community.
Today, Moreen remains the heart of Stouffville Music Room, now as a mom and owner-operator committed to nurturing a love of music in every student. Built with families like hers in mind, Stouffville Music Room continues to thrive, offering personalized lessons, engaging preschool programs, and vibrant community events—all dedicated to fostering lifelong connections to music.

We desire to maximize the likelihood that students (children and adults alike) have music as a part of their lives forever! Whether they go on to become world-famous artists or simply play for their family at home, we believe that music is a crucial and transformative form of self-expression. We take pride in fostering a warm and community centered environment because we know that students thrive when they feel comfortable.
We believe that everyone -without exception- is deeply and profoundly musical. Our goal is to foster that intrinsic ability in a fun and engaging way! You will see that we do not hold to the rigid formality traditional schools create and opt for a more relaxed, enjoyable experience with music education. Each of our teachers work diligently to meet the unique individual needs of students and personalize lessons for maximum engagement and progress.
